Organic Dragonwell:
Dragonwell, also known as Long Jing, is one of China’s top ten most famous teas. Dragonwell’s meticulous roasting and processing requires very skilled hands and great attention. This intensive work bears great rewards, as shown in the tea’s great flavor and a beautiful appearance.
Organic White Peony:
Bai Mu Dan or “White Peony” refers to a special white tea grown in Fujian. White peony consists of the smallest buds and the first two leaves that are picked from each new shoot. The leaf pluck method is what gives Bai Mu Dan a stronger flavor. These tender buds and leaves are then carefully dried by the best method suited to the weather conditions, namely sun-dried, naturally dried indoors, or machine dried. As a white tea, it is only very lightly fermented. The grey leaves encircle a silver core, like a flower. The flavor is lightly sweet and mellow with subtle hints of vanilla and it has a sweet and fresh fragrance.
Organic Chrysanthemum:
“Chrysanthemum” is derived from Ancient Greek, chrysos (gold) and anthemon (flower). Chrysanthemum flowers are native to east Asia and northeastern Europe. They were first cultivated in China, with a history dating back to at least 15th century BC. The beautiful flowers are used in many festivals and shows. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that when there is a delicious tisane of the “golden flower,” happy conversations follow!
Organic Golden Monkey:
Golden Monkey, also known as Pangyang Congou, evolved from a Portuguese black tea that was first made to be exported to Europe. The tea comes from Tanyang village in Fujian, China and has been the most famous tea in the region for the past 150 years. Golden Monkey is made from a hairy or downy varietal and gets its name from its golden tippy leaf or from the golden color of its liquor. Known for its smooth earthiness with little-to-no astringency, Golden Monkey provides a delicious, enlivening return to serenity.
Organic Tuo Cha:
Tuo Cha (“bowl” tea) are tiny tea “bowls” or cakes of Pu-erh tea. Pu-erh is true black (cooked) tea. The “cooking” process often involves a special aging process whereby the tea is stored in special caves or climate-controlled rooms. This painstaking process results in Pu-erh’s wonderfully distinct flavor and bouquet! Like a fine wine or scotch, Pu-erh is considered a sophisticated tea.
Organic Big Red Robe:
Da Hong Pao, also known as Big Red Robe, has a rich history going back over 350 years. Crossing over the span of two dynasties, it was valued in both Ming and Qing courts as a top tribute tea. Da Hong Pao owes its name to a Ming Dynasty government official who attributed his recovery from illness to its curative powers. The man gave thanks by draping his official scarlet robe over the health-bestowing tea bushes, kowtowing in respect. Big Red Robe is truly more satisfying and thought provoking with every sip!
