Jasmine flower, originally native to the Persian Gulf, was imported to south China sometime before the third century AD. It didn’t take long for the discovery that Oolong tea scented with jasmine flowers was just too delicious not to become a staple of the Chinese tea tradition! The scenting process usually begins as soon as the jasmine flowers burst open. After blending with Oolong, the tea is re-fired in order to remove moisture and preserve freshness. This results in the perfect mixture of jasmine’s sweet floral aroma, combined with Oolong’s earthy serenity. After just one sip, it’s easy to see why it’s been a classic for so long!
